Welcome to Paper for All

Our aim is to support education to enable development
Paper for All is a registered non-profit/charity that aims to promote knowledge leading to development.  Paper for All focuses on improving children learning conditions by providing academic resources and tutoring to children in Burkina Faso, Africa.  The organization operates in Burkina Faso and is present in the UK, France and US.

Our actions are focused on improving shocking learning conditions
At Paper for All, we strongly believe that education is one of the first steps leading to awareness and development.  This is why we targeted Burkina Faso, which is one of the most illiterate countries in the world, with a literacy rate of 24-26% (source: United Nations Development Program, Wikipedia, Unicef, CIA World Fact Book, World Bank, 2008, 2009 (1)).
But how can children acquire knowledge if they do not even have paper to write on?  It is shocking to see some children leave their families, walk hours to come to class and then having to write in the margins of the notebooks already used by their brothers and sisters.

By empowering the next generation, Paper for All aims at enabling development in a sustainable way
Paper for All therefore exists to answer a clear need: to give the children in Burkina Faso the same learning conditions as other children in the world.   Doing this, Paper for all helps disadvantaged countries help themselves.  Overall, by providing academic resources to needy children in Burkina Faso, we help them write, learn and build their knowledge and awareness of the world.  Ultimately we enable them to contribute to the development of their own country.

The situation can improve if the learning conditions are enhanced

The situation in some developing countries, such as Burkina Faso, requires that proper children working conditions exist.  Knowledge is a key enabler leading to development and by helping disadvantaged children to learn, we can enable them to contribute to the development of their own country.

Our focus on improving chidren learning conditions and on a select number of schools in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso maximizes our impact

Paper for All focuses on improving children learning conditions.  The non-profit distributes academic resources such as paper, pens and chalk to try to solve shocking situations.  These involve for instance children who are proud to go to school writing in the margins of the notebooks used by their brothers and sisters before, if they even have a pen.  In addition, Paper for All is focused and a select number of elementary schools in one country, Burkina Faso and one town, Ouagadougou.

The resouces we distribute are, when availalbe, from sustainable sources, and the notebooks we distribute are for instance mostly made from cheaper recycled paper. We however also try to help with other academic resources such as chalks, books and tutoring when our team in Burkina Faso reports a strong need.   We also recognise the need for additional improvements, such as desk space to write on.  Due to classroom capacity constraints, 90 students indeed sit where there is space for only 45 (please see the pictures in the What we do section).  To address this issue, the Lapdesk Company has for instance developed a portable desk that is distributed to the children.  If you wish to know more, more information can be found on their website http://www.lapdesk.co.za or through thislink.

Small amounts can make a big difference.  Together, we can support education to enable development

The low cost of living means that small amounts can have a big impact with 1£ = 5 notebooks + pens bought = 5 smiles.  If you wish to support our actions, please visit the Act/Donate section or click on the above link.  We are very glad to have you as our visitor as this is a crucial time and we need your energy and support more than ever to assist the children in Burkina Faso.  We also wish to thank all the individuals and organizations who have supported us so far, and enabled our development and actions in Burkina Faso.

We thank you for your visit,

Together, we can grow the seeds into trees sheltering the next generation.
